Overview / Responsibilities:
Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Project Engineer with extensive experience in the Oil & Gas and Industry for a major Decommissioning project within the UK North Sea. Position will report to the project manager and is responsible for driving and coordinating all project activities across a variety of scopes associated with the topside single lift removal prior to downstaff of the platform.
Supports delivery of fit-for-purpose decommissioning solutions for construction-led approach in their assigned project(s) through coordinating and delivering the engineering assurance for an assigned project scope(s) to schedule and in accordance with applicable procedures, specifications, and standards.
Coordinates a series of activities performed by engineers and designers from one or more engineering disciplines or specialist vendor to support the timely issuing of engineering deliverables to meet project specifications.
- Monitors and supports compliance with quality, HSE and assurance standards.
Undertakes basic schedule preparation, planning and resource forecasting for engineering activities relating to the project.
Ensures accurate and timely delivery of work, to the satisfaction of both internal and external customers.
Alerts Project Manager in the event of potential delays or change; supports implementation of approved changes.
Coordinates and assures technical excellence of interdisciplinary project deliverables.
- Develop, plan, manage and report on all individual project activities associated with the project.
- Proactively manage all workscopes, meeting agreed cost and schedule constraints and ensuring that technical or commercial issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Coordinate across disciplines, promote team-working and encourage communication across all project activities.
- Report any technical or commercial concerns to the project manager.
- Promote cost effective, innovative engineering solutions which are safe, environmentally acceptable and conform to relevant codes of practice
Ensure that Wood approval procedures and change management processes are followed for all project activities
Build relationships with client Decommissioning constructions team and other project stakeholders
Ensure that all client correspondence, minutes of meetings etc. are recorded and filed in retrievable format
Develop and maintain a project risk register with mitigating controls identified and assigned for action.
Understands the requirements for constructability / design reviews
Fully understand the requirements of the project schedule and hold regular reviews
Checks Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSES) implementation by review against standards, procedures, work practices and literature
Plans individual work activities and manages time; liaises with disciplines to ensure timely receipt of comments
Expedite Engineers / Specialist vendors to deliver to schedule, fully understand reasons for delay and assist in developing recovery plans
Able to coordinate input of a single engineering discipline within more than one office location Quality, HSE and Assurance
Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications
- ISCED Level 6 Bachelor’s (minimum) degree or Level 7 Masters (preferred) in an engineering discipline
Knowledge, skills and experience:
Extensive experience gained either as a discipline engineer in a project environment or in more junior project engineering roles
Good understanding of technical work scope, key dates and milestones. es.
- Completely familiar with project contractual and commercial requirements.
Fully conversant with project scopes and work carried out by all engineering disciplines and
various interface and inter discipline coordination requirements among the various disciplines
including procurement and construction.
Understands the concept of customer satisfaction and is able to deliver to internal customers,
including other Engineering disciplines
Understands and knows how to apply the procedures and work practices which define and
govern Engineering Management and Project Engineering deliverables
Understands the importance of Project Engineering deliverables and the need for accuracy and
timely issue
Commercially astute and aware of the importance of Change control
Has a good knowledge of engineering standards, procedures and work practices; follows
project execution flow chart; developing skills in project and technical execution
Able to lead small team; develops skills of leadership with minimum intervention from manager
