The Mission of the Chamber of Commerce is to provide visionary leadership and promote economic development and business growth to enhance the overall quality of life in McCormick County.
McCormick County provides opportunities for entrepreneurs in retail, manufacturing and business. Our Chamber of Commerce membership has steadily grown during the past five years. We enjoy a strong arts community that includes artisans, theatre, music and more. A large and active cadre of non-profit volunteers are very active providing an array of services. Our county school campus is state-of-art and includes early education (Pre-K) through high school.
The Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce is responsible for all administrative and management functions and executing the organization mission and strategic plan as approved by the Executive Board. The Executive Director serves as lead spokesperson for the Chamber, representing the Chamber's interests to the media, elected officials, and community and organizational stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities include: Leadership and Strategic Planning Advocacy and Public Policy Financial Management Public Relations and Communications Membership Development and Retention Community Engagement Economic Development Events and Programs Board Committee Management Staff Management
Ideal Candidate for this position is an innovator and strategic thinker. Key attributes include a marketing mind-set and excellent communication skills to include writing, verbal, listening and social engagement. The Chamber's leadership is prepared to move the organization forward to new neights in the next three to five years. The ability to develop relationship, a willingness to take on challenges and an understanding of how business operates is essential to this role.
Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience requiredThree years of experience as a successful leader in a chamber of commerce, tourism development, non-profit or other related business associations Outstanding public speaking, written and presentation skills Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook 365, and PowerPoint) Ability to supervise staff and volunteers Professional appearance, image and integrity A Successful Candidate Exhibits : Relationship building abilities Multi-tasking capabilities on projects, issues, and initiatives Command of office technology Experience in non-profit fund raising and event planning
