Position Purpose

The Lead Utility Mechanic Performs

duties of a working supervisor to include locksmith, minor carpentry, signage, medical gas, and all types of general repairs, and overseeing the working operations of mechanics and other tradesmen to assure a safe and pleasant environment of care and preservation of the facility and its equipment.

What You Will Do

Supervises general mechanics and engineering tradesmen.Contacts vendors for fabrications and repairs that cannot be performed by in-house staff.Performs locksmith work and minor carpentry work.Performs and documents preventative maintenance equipment.Responds immediately to emergency calls and to accomplish projects on an on-time completion basis.Assists other trades when requested by the director of facilities.Performs engineering mechanic on call

duties as scheduled.Responds to emergency calls as necessary.

Working Conditions

Requires prolonged standing and walking daily.Use of Ladders, scaffolding, ramps, and stairs required.

Minimum

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Requires the ability to resolve simple problems involving math and technical

skills.Requires the ability to respond to simple written or verbal instructions.Occasional contact with patients, visitors and staff which requires tact and courtesy.Requires the ability to read and write English.
