Salary Range: $62,000 - $65,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching
experience and
education.

educational school located in Manhattan, is consistently recognized as one of the top independent day schools in the nation. It has a total enrollment of about 1,300 students and a faculty and staff of approximately 350.
We are seeking a full-time Kindergarten Associate Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year, starting in September.
The Associate Teacher program at The Dalton School provides a unique opportunity for new teachers actively pursuing the field of
education to further their teaching
skills by working closely with
experienced teachers and mentors in a progressive
educational setting. Associate Teachers are integral to the First Program community.
Duties Include Collaborating With The Head Teacher In All Classroom
responsibilities, both academic and organizational: planning and conducting small group or whole class lessons, assessing and documenting students’ needs, developing and participating in classroom management, and supporting the Head Teachers in the daily maintenance of the classroom. Associate Teachers must demonstrate sensitivity to and awareness of the many kinds of
diversity present within the First Program community (cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, socioeconomic, learning style, etc.), as well as the social and emotional developmental needs of the students.
Responsibilities
As a full-time employee, the Kindergarten Associate candidate must possess a passion and a promise for working with young children, excellent communication
skills, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching via ongoing graduate classes and/or professional development. Associates generally spend two years in First Program and are invited for a third year of teaching at the discretion of the school. The Kindergarten Associate Teacher assists the Head Teacher with all day-to-day
duties including lesson preparation and classroom set up. In addition to learning the craft of teaching by supporting the Head Teacher and assisting with classroom practices, the Kindergarten Associate Teacher has additional
responsibilities which include, but are not limited to:
Planning and conducting small group or whole group lessonsAssessing and documenting students’ needsAttending and participating in Curriculum Night, grade-level meetings, report conferences, student support meetings, Associate Teacher meetings and professional developmentParticipating in conversations around curricular planning and classroom managementWriting student progress reports each trimesterSupervising lunch, recess, and dismissal

Qualifications
