Steptoe LLP, a Washington is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its Accounting & Finance Department. The Financial Analyst will provide financial analysis, planning and management reporting of key operational metrics, respond to financial and statistical surveys, and administer the firm’s financial reporting software.

Essential Functions

Utilize databases and BI software applications to effectively, timely and accurately provide data, reports and metrics Update and send out monthly reports. Prepare the annual operating budget, which includes 12 month projections of headcount, revenue and operating expense by office. Input and manage data in the firm’s web-based budgeting tool Prepare higher level analyses and financial commentary on key financial indicators for the CFO and Firm Management Prepare more challenging requests for reports/analysis, together with an interpretation of the data Verify the integrity of the data and provide in-depth analysis where required and prepare actual vs. budget headcount reports Track the spending for large budgets at a detailed level and meet with their key personnel on a regular basis. Provide accurate explanation for departments being over/under budget Collaborate and meet with the relevant Department Managers/Office Administrators to develop and review annual operating budget, capital budget and financial forecasts Train the Department Managers/Office Administrators on budgeting concepts and in the usage of the budgeting software Maintain and administer the firm’s web-based budgeting application. Upload monthly actuals and check against the P&L for accuracy Work with the vendor to resolve all issues and assist with all related projects such as upgrades/migration to new versions Compile data, prepare supporting schedules and compute statistics for annual and quarterly surveys inclusive of but not limited to Citi, Wells Fargo, NAWL, etc. Provide analysis of firm vs. peer results to Management

Qualifications

3 to 6 years of

experience in financial analyses and/or a related field Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting is required
