Summary

The Structural Revit Designer will support the delivery of 2D and 3D design packages for projects from various markets and industries. This role involves steel and concrete design work, executing the development of design deliverables start to finish, defining and implementing continuous improvement of the related processes, leading other designers in small project teams, participation in quality reviews, coordination with other engineering disciplines on projects, and client interactions.

Responsible to: Project Engineer/Project Manager

Internal relationships: Designers, Engineers & Project managers

External relationships: Clients, subcontractors, vendors

Office hours: M-F, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Essential Functions And

Duties

Grow, learn, and innovateProvide structural design and drafting services that meet the needs of our clients as well as the overall project scope, schedule, and budget

requirementsEnsure development of consistent and high-quality project deliverablesEnsure that our structural steel and concrete deliverables conform to industry standard

requirementsLead small project designer teams, ensuring the work is accurate and coordinated and that all quality assurance measures have been followedCoordinate structural design elements with other disciplinesListen to clients’ needs and independently provide value by developing and evaluating options based upon project success factorsCommunicate design recommendations to our clients, project teams, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email and/or phoneAble to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and customer serviceDevelop and refine structural designer methodologies, tools, and standardsMeet critical deadlines and have the ability to work independently and as part of a teamStay abreast of relevant industry developments and technology advancementsMentor team members to develop additional strengths and competencies within the groupField work requires

experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment, systems, and conditions as required

Requirements

Experience executing multi-discipline design packages with an integrated approach5+ years of industry

experienceAssociate’s degree in a related engineering technology discipline or equivalent work

experience.

Design Software:Revit - 3+ years

experience requiredBIM360, Navisworks, and Bluebeam

experience a major plusAutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Inventor and Advanced Steel

experience a plusMicrosoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Experience interpreting general arrangement drawings to identify the project’s structural scopeAbility to create 3D structural models from discussions with structural engineers, sketches provided by structural engineers, specifications, and reference drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledgeAbility to read and understand orthographic drawingsAbility to create 2D orthographic drawings from models for communication of a design in construction documentsAbility to interpret and apply technical specificationsBasic knowledge of industry standards such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and OSHAAbility to interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and proceduresAbility to work with 3D scanner point clouds as part of the design process is a plusExcellent listening, written and verbal communication

Location: Richardson, TX

Travel: Work will involve travel to clients' facilities, usually local area; up to 10% of the time.
