GIS Engineer - W2 ONLY - Hybrid in CLT, NC
Optomi, in partnership with one of the largest electric power holding companies in the United States is seeking a talented GIS Developer to join our dynamic team. As a GIS Developer, you will play a crucial role in leveraging geographic information systems (GIS) to support various aspects of our operations, from asset management to environmental monitoring. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement GIS solutions that enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of our processes.
Key
Responsibilities:Develop and maintain GIS applications, tools, and databases to support operational needs.Design and implement spatial analyses, geoprocessing workflows, and data visualization techniques to extract insights and inform decision-making.Integrate GIS data with other enterprise systems, such as asset management and work management platforms, to ensure data consistency and interoperability.Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather
requirements, prioritize tasks, and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.Perform data quality assurance and validation to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of GIS data sets.Stay current with emerging GIS technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption.Provide technical support and training to end-users on GIS applications, tools, and workflows.Participate in project planning, scoping, and estimation activities to ensure successful project delivery within established timelines and budgets.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.Proven
experience developing GIS applications and solutions using Esri ArcGIS software suite.Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in GIS development, such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL.Strong understanding of spatial data concepts, including coordinate systems, projections, and topology.
Experience with database management systems, such as Oracle Spatial or Microsoft SQL Server.Excellent problem-solving
skills and attention to detail, with a passion for leveraging technology to solve complex challenges.Effective communication and interpersonal
skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in the energy industry or a regulated environment is a plus.
