Role Overview & Specifications
The IRA/Trust and Estates Specialist is responsible for all aspects of Trust, IRA activities, Deceased and Trust account policies, risk management, legal and compliance issues as well as assuring member satisfaction with these products. In addition, this role is responsible for providing member and staff
education regarding the various products under their purview. Deceased Account AdministrationAct as a liaison between surviving family/personal representative and organization until account has been settledPerform deceased account maintenance to include canceling ACH and other pre-authorized debits, all debit and or credit cards, and restricting accountsAscertain proper disposition of funds in the account with minimum exposure to liabilityEnsures payment is made to the duly appointed legal representative of the deceased member upon receipt of appropriate documentationPrepare letters and memorandums to surviving account holders, executors, attorneys, and trusteesAdhere to all Federal and State regulations regarding decedent accountsProvide broad support on deceased accounts to other credit union departmentsServe as Administrator for Power of Attorney (POA) AccountsReview all incoming documentation on Powers of Attorney; ensure wording in the document is legal and validMaintain account records and warnings to properly flag and indicate account designated with POAFunction as IRA AdministratorMaintain an in-depth knowledge of all IRA products and operational proceduresProcess all IRA transactions including, but not limited to withdrawals, deposits, transfers, and distributionsUnderstands IRS rules and regulations concerning IRA accounts and their administrationManage Certificate of Deposit (CD) Account MaintenanceFulfill maturity instructions, withdrawals, deposits, and transfersResearch and correct transaction errors made by other departmentsProvide advanced support on these accounts to other branches and departmentsParticipate in testing and implementation of projects for new products, services, or processesTake initiative to continuously develop
skills and industry knowledge to enhance the value of all customer interactionsAttend regular training and certification courses as needed for this position - May require travelProactively identify opportunities to provide product/service solutions to membersAccurately and efficiently process member financial transactionsProvide exceptional member
experiencesWork in partnership with teams across the organization to deliver on projects that improve visibility into the member
experience.Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) #NWFCU1 Required * High school diploma or equivalent
- Requires a minimum of 2 years banking/credit union
experience or
experience in a similar role
- Must complete and maintain an IRA Specialist Certification at a minimum of the Certified IRA Specialist II (CIS II) level in designation within one of year of hire

Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school2 years of financial institution
experience with an emphasis on deceased account processing, Estate and Trust accounts
