Job Description
Global Clinical Supply (GCS) organization is within our company's Research Laboratories and is accountable for managing the 'end-to-end' integrated clinical supply chain across all of our Research and Development Division's portfolio to enable the execution of any clinical trial using a company asset. GCS supports more than 300 Phase I-IV clinical trials run inhouse, 400+ outsourced or run by partners as well as our company's ISS clinical trials(300+). GCS is accountable for the planning, sourcing, labeling, packaging and delivery of clinical supplies to clinical sites accross more than 60+countries, all in accordance with US and WW regulations, company policies and Standard operating procedures.
This individual will be responsible for managing external vendor(s)/partner(s) who provide resources and services that are critical to the success of GCS objectives and deliverables. The incumbent is expected to have strong business acumen and demonstrated change management and leadership skills. Key focus and responsibilities will include project management and oversight of supplier deliverables and timelines as well as management of supplier performance, issues, risks, and opportunities. This role will engage and collaborate closely GCS Functions as well as support functions (i.e., procurement, finance) to manage the supplier relationship and ensure effective partnership and continued growth. This will include management and continuous improvement of processes and enhancement of connections between the supplier and the various GCS Functional Area groups to ensure that all service lines within the Global Clinical Supply Chain are efficiently and effectively governed.
Responsible for managing external vendor(s)/partner(s) who provide resources and services that are critical to the success of GCS objectives and deliverables critical to the clinical pipeline. The incumbent is expected to have strong business acumen, excellent change management and leadership skills.
Vendor Management/Oversight
Primacy Activities include but are not limited to:
Provides oversight of vendor partner(s) and serves as the primary point of contact with the vendor and internal stakeholders.Manages vendor portfolio and serves as the primary point-of-contact to manage issue escalations and resolution with internal and external stakeholders.Plans, coordinates, and executes governance for all strategic partners across GCS. Ensures timely follow up from those meetings.Establish supplier KPIs/metrics/SLAs to enable effective vendor oversight.Proactively monitors and manages key performance metrics across all strategic partners to continuously evaluate performance. Ensures issues are identified and managed through to resolution in a timely manner and deliverables are met as required.
Sourcing Strategy
Anticipates future internal stakeholder needs and actively collaborates with and provides guidance to vendor(s)/partner(s) to assure new capabilities and services are developed to meet those identified needs.Evaluates and advises operational teams on strategy of adding a new vendor to categories as well as vendor and market capabilities and prior performance.Translates business needs into the Request for Proposal (RFP) specifications working closely with Global Procurement.Collaborates with Global Procurement to identify external vendor/partner candidates who can deliver the required services/resources to support GCS to ensure delivery of the clinical pipeline.
Process & People Management
Anticipates internal/external business challenges and enables process improvements to address those challenges with both internal stakeholders and external partners.Identify and drive process improvement, new ways of working, or other initiatives to meet business needs and support the needs of the future.May plan and lead the transition activities related to managing an existing supplier into the company's systems due to a joint venture or acquisition.May have direct management responsibility as a P5.
Leadership Skills
Ability to operate strategically with peers and senior leadership to drive cross functional alignment and influence outcomes and solutions to meet strategic priorities.Ability to manage and empower a staff to govern our vendors and execute on organizational priorities with strong alignment with the cross functional GCS business.Ability to see the big picture and influence strategy at a 50,000 ft level while knowing how to engage with cross functional teams in the details to guide, support and set expectations.Ability to manage employees to expectations and ensuring efficient operations of the organization.Ability to grow and develop a staff year over year ensuring skill sets align to the changing business needs.
Required Experience And Skills
Strong negotiation, escalation, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to lead by influence and work effectively across GCS and the broader PSCS.Strong change leadership skills and strong ability to motivate individuals and teams.Demonstrated ability to develop strong, trust based, collaborative relationships to drive change and execute on priorities with a diverse group of stakeholders.Strategic thinking and independent decision-making abilities.Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively and tactfully to interact with different global professional levels and external stakeholders.Relationship management skillset in any industry.
Education/Experience
BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience / 10+ years of working experience preferred experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
Effective September 5, 2023, employees in office-based positions in the U.S. will be working a Hybrid work consisting of three total days on-site per week, generally Tuesday, Wednesday and either Monday or Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected Salary Range
$149,400.00 - $235,100.00
