The work at Land Systems is extremely varied. It can involve prototyping, assembly and modifications through to maintenance of in-service equipment. You will work as part of a varied multidisciplinary team, where you will develop invaluable skills. We pride ourselves in high quality solutions that meet or exceed the customer’s needs.

Duties of an Apprentice Electrical Engineer:

• 
  Attend and engage with training, including exams and 1-2-1 meetings with your tutors/assessors
• 
  Manage your time effectively to complete all coursework, assignments and exams required to achieve the apprenticeship
• 
  Reflect on your own practice and experiences and take any feedback onboard
• 
  Promote and uphold the company values and procedures
• 
  Promote and adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental best practice
• 
  Work to standards, processes & procedures, ensure rigour, resilience and continuous improvement in solutions, meeting all regulatory requirements, conforming to specifications, quality and certification requirements
• 
  Support the technical compliance, verification and validation activities of all contractual, statutory and legal requirements
• 
  Ensure consistent electrical system engineering best practice is applied across all projects and company procedures are followed
• 
  Support the wider team with generating Bills of Materials and specific electrical work breakdown packages
• 
  Work effectively with all disciplines to ensure effective integration of electrical systems and components within mechanical restraints to ensure a defined electrical build standard
• 
  To work collaboratively within the team and other areas of the business
• 
  Manage budget and schedule adherence for delivery of own work packages.
• 
  To provide electrical engineering support and assistance to all areas of the business
• 
  Support process development and governance

Electrical Engineers undertake electrical engineering work packages required to efficiently support the delivery of bids, installations and systems to meet requirements, schedule and cost. As an apprentice engineer you will be given the full support and training to become a valuable member of the team.

The Apprenticeship

Over the course of this 5 year apprenticeship you will complete a structured training programme. Your Bachelor’s degree in Engineering will be delivered by one of our partner universities on a block release basis. You will attend face to face learning up to 5 times a year as well as complete online learning and meetings with your assessor. You will be following the Level 6 Electrical/ Electronic Technical Support Engineer apprenticeship standard, more information on this standard can be found on the institute for apprenticeship website.

You will start your programme by completing hands skills training with our very own Marshall Skills Academy before completing an initial placement with our production team. Once you have a good understanding of production you will join the engineering team and complete rotations around different projects and parts of the team.

Entry requirements

• 
  You will need to have 5 GCSE’s A*-C/ 4-9 including Maths, English and Science or equivalent
• 
  You will also need three A Levels at grade C or above including Mathematics and a Science
• 
  In order to receive apprenticeship funding you must have the right to work in the UK and meet residency eligibility requirements
• 
  You must successfully pass all required medical and security checks if you are offered a place on the apprenticeship programme
