Role Overview & Specifications
The Clinical Applications Manager leads staff and processes for all IT and patient access IT design, development, testing, and implementation functions. Clinical application support may include but not limited to inpatient, lab, imaging, pharmacy, revenue cycle, business applications. This manager will serve as the subject matter expert and will be responsible to lead large and complex projects and processes.
Responsibilities include systems analysis, providing creative and viable solutions to problems, developing and executing detailed test plans, and creating thorough documentation. Participation in project and change management assignments will require eliciting and translating customer
requirements into solid system design, with an emphasis on enhancing productivity and standardized workflows. A diverse customer base of clinical and support staff, management, and physicians, requires excellent oral and written communication
skills. This position reports directly to the Director of Clinical Applications. Responsible for staff supervision; participates in budget development and administration, short- and long-term planning, and quality assurance. Responsible for the overall service delivery for one or more IT functions and/or capabilities. The selected candidate will also be included in the on-call rotation schedule.

Duties
Consults with users on project requests or for problem resolution. Develops solutions, designs and specifications to satisfy user needs. Develops project schedules; plans and estimates staffing and other resource
requirements. Supervises the work of staff to ensure project plans and schedules are adhered to. Follows up with users to ensure satisfaction with services provided.Manages daily operations of team and provides specific technical expertise for functions supervised. Directs and manages the delivery/deployment of complex projects and lends technical assistance to others as needed. Resolves problems referred by staff.Directly supervises assigned staff. Recruits, screens, hire and trains staff. Evaluates employee performance and provides guidance and feedback to assigned staff. Counsels, disciplines and/or terminates employees as required.Recommends departmental goals and objectives. Implements and communicates to staff. Reassesses or redefines priorities as appropriate in order to achieve performance objectives. Works in concert with the EMR committees to ensure that teams are meeting enterprise prioritization goals.Controls or monitors team labor productivityCoordinates with vendors to obtain appropriate software packages to allow work to progress, supervises testing of new softwareServes as a primary source of information regarding team services. Links team with other work units to ensure services are effectively coordinated.Participates in development and documentation of internal operating policies and procedures. Assists in development and dissemination of policies and procedures for users. Provides interpretation as required.Stays abreast of new enhancements being offered by primary vendor and works with senior architect to stay current.Works directly with the PMO to ensure project tasks are delivered and resource management.Performs other
duties as assigned.

experience in PowerChart, Patient Access requiredMust have exceptional customer service and communication
skills both verbal and written;Must have demonstrated ability to supervise, judge staff
skills and delegate appropriately, with an emphasis on customer service.Must have demonstrated understanding of performance management, business consulting, project management and applicable technology

The Annual Base
salary range for this position is $110,240.00 - $181,896.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and
