Position
Summary:Flagship Pioneering is seeking an
experienced and talented finance professional to join a first-in-category organization. The Assistant Controller will be an instrumental player partnering with portfolio companies and will be responsible for providing business insights to our leaders to measure progress on company performance and assist with enhancing companywide financial reports, including enhanced analytics, cash flow management and consolidated reporting.
Key
Responsibilities: Oversee month-end and quarter end closes for multiple entities, review journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with US GAAPResponsible for the oversight, mentorship, and development of our senior accountantOversee corporate governance for several portfolio companiesManage organizational cash flow, budgeting, forecasting and reporting for several portfolio companiesPrepare and present to Senior Management Teams for several portfolio companies Grow to become a strategic business partner for the management teams to help them understand and plan critical elements of financial decisions and their impactSupport Series A and Series B Preferred Stock financings including preparation of disclosure schedules, document review, data room development and management, and financial support of due diligence processesResearch, establish and enforce proper accounting treatment for new and complex business transactions such as those involving mergers & acquisitions and collaboration agreements.Oversee the management of leases, contracts, consulting agreements, venture debt financing arrangements, annual reports/filings/audits, equity administration, and other financial commitmentsAssist with specific projects and initiatives unique to a fast-growing biotechnology start-up, such as system implementations and updates and business process improvementsContinually evaluate and drive improvements across finance operationsProvide Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
Minimum
Qualifications:8+ years of financial and accounting
experience. Life sciences / biotechnology industry preferred.BS/BA in accounting or financeCPA or MBA PreferredDesire to work with teammates who strive to make each other better every day, who generously give and accept help when it is needed, and who achieve more as a team than is possible as a collection of individualsStrong business acumen; proven ability to effectively scrutinize and challenge assumptions and interpret the strategy and priorities of the organization in financial termsExcellent project management / leadership

Experience with NetSuite a plusFlexible, personable team-player, comfortable in a fast-paced, small company environmentProven ability to set and meet ambitious deadlines, handle numerous multifaceted financial matters and see projects through to conclusionStrong written and verbal communication
