The City of St. Cloud is one of fastest growing cities in the country. I am proud to state that our police department is an extremely professional organization and is well respected and supported by our City Council, City Manager, and our community as a whole. This is evident by our new FOP contract with a secure step-plan, longevity bonuses, robust healthcare plan with a city-sponsored clinic, take home vehicle program, and free uniform dry cleaning, something many cities are moving away from. Additionally, sworn members can earn a 100% pension through a privately-funded city system.

Where most agencies struggle to fill positions, we currently have four vacancies and numerous certified applicants. This is due to our robust lateral transfer program because we recognize that it is sometimes difficult to “start over,” so we compensate those who make the sacrifice to wear our uniform. We were recently awarded a COPS grant for six additional officers that will be used to add to our Community Engagement Unit.

When fully developed, the City of St. Cloud will encompass approximately 100 square miles with several hundred sworn officers and professional staff. We are in the process of designing our public safety complex on 50 acres to include a state-of-the-art emergency operations and communications center, indoor firearms range, live-environment training facility, crime scene facility, and a new police headquarters.
