About The Role
As an Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer (Metal) you will collaborate with the Functional Manager for DCP / VoWa & Concerns Management to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100 strategy.
The Additive Manufacturing Engineer is positioned within the Whole Vehicle Engineering team within R&D. Reporting to the Functional Manager for DCP / VoWa & Concerns Management, the Engineer will manage the wholesale application of Metal AM throughout Whole Vehicle Engineering and the rest of the business.
The DCP/ VoWa & Concerns Management team is based within the R&D Workshop. It is split into 3 areas of responsibility:
- R&D Workshop Technical Support – Provide technical support to both R&D workshops.
- PMU – Manufacture, Validation & Sign-off of Physical Mock-Ups (PMU).
- Additive Manufacturing – Develop & maintain a world class AM facility, accessible to all colleagues.
Main Duties/responsibilities
- Planning, commissioning & day-day operation of a metal AM facility within Bentley’s new Engineering Technical Centre.
- Ensuring the continued high performance of the AM facilities KPI’s.
- Collaboration with Engineering feature owners to develop end-use metal AM components.
- Completing material testing, quality assurances & investment proposals to progress application of metal AM for end-use parts.
- Responsible for creation and/or validation of complex Additive Manufacturing (AM) component models, utilising AM software packages.
- Creation on AM tooling, Jigs & fixtures for application across the business.
- Represent Bentley at VW Group & Industry AM Events, identifying new technologies, materials & applications.
You will demonstrate:
- Experience in working with Metal AM hardware and software.
- Experience in working with sintering and/or de-binding processes.
- Specific experience with LMM or MIM technologies is beneficial.
- Experience in solid modelling CAD and STL Manipulation.
- A qualification in Design or Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Experience of automotive engineering systems and processes.
