SUMMARY: Provides Journeyman level

skills in the installation, maintenance, remodeling, repair, and servicing of plumbing systems. Also responsible for the prompt performance of assigned plumbing and related

duties. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • Performs preventative maintenance of plumbing systems and repairs as needed to prevent future failures. • Performs installation of lavatories, commodes, urinals, natural gas heaters, drinking fountains, faucets, new water lines/drain lines/vents and connection to existing plumbing fixtures; also, installation and maintenance of space heaters, water heaters, and grease traps. • Repairs/replaces irrigation lawn sprinkler systems, water softeners, deionized water systems, kitchen equipment, backflow preventers, dilution tanks, lift stations, sump pumps, etc. • Unclogs commodes, urinals, lavatories, and sewer lines; repairs/replaces faulty faucets, commode seats, floor drains, and any defective parts in plumbing fixtures.• Performs excavations to locate/ repair existing lines, to include digging for new installations.• Performs Journeyman level work in the installation of new plumbing systems in renovation or construction projects. • Provides guidance and training in plumbing work to apprentices and other maintenance personnel. May have lead responsibility for special projects; assists in ordering materials for shop. Prepares estimates of time, labor, and materials. • Performs other

duties as assigned. MINIMUM

Education And

EXPERIENCE: • Graduation from high school or a General

Education Development (GED) Certificate. • 8,000 hours

experience as an apprentice. PREFERRED

Education And

EXPERIENCE: • Completion of technical plumbing training. • More than four years of

experience in the plumbing field. REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver license. Must be insurable through the organization’s insurers. • Must have a valid State of Texas Journeyman Plumbing License and Licensed as Certified Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester from The State of Texas. Licenses must be kept current. KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Ability to read and write English. • Ability to distinguish between colors and work from elevated heights (ladders, scaffolding, etc.).• Ability to use plumbing tools, i.e. hand/power drills, saws, voltmeters, etc. • Ability to read blueprints and schematics. • Ability to operate plumbing equipment such as Auger (drain cleaning machine), jack hammers, pipe threaders/locators, torches, hammer drills, and any other handheld plumbing tools/equipment. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and the public. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Lead worker over others in similar jobs and/or provides work leadership and direction for employees. PHYSICAL

REQUIREMENTS: Physical

requirements include lifting up to 75 lbs. and moving up to 1,000 lbs. with assistance. May be required to work in attics and under buildings; subject to electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards and/or inclement weather conditions; may be exposed to dust and fumes. Must use required Personal Protective Equipment. This position requires emergency response
